PCR lab gel imaging system for experimental analysis
2022-09-08 11:50

The gel imaging system is a gel analysis system that integrates observation, photography and analysis of gels, which can be used for quantitative and qualitative analysis of gels. Specifically, from the perspective of usage analysis, the gel imaging system can be applied to molecular weight calculation, density scanning, density quantification, PCR quantification and other bioengineering routine research.

Applications of gel imaging analysis system:

1. Molecular weight quantification

For the commonly used DNA films, the molecular weight quantification function is used to automatically generate a fitting curve by annotating the known molecular weights of DNA Marker bands on the gel, and use it to measure the molecular weights of unknown bands. The results obtained by this method are much more accurate than those estimated by naked eyes.

2. Density quantification

The commonly used method for measuring the concentration of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) is the ultraviolet absorption method. With the gel imaging system and software, after first calibrating the density of a standard band with known DNA content on the DNA film, you can easily click on other unknown bands and compare the density with the known bands, and the content of unknown DNA can be obtained.

3. Density scanning

In molecular biology and bioengineering research, it usually needs to calculate the percentage of protein expression products in the whole protein. This can be done by using bioanalytical software combined with imaging of the gel illuminated by white light to obtain pictures.

4. PCR quantification

PCR quantification mainly refers to that if there is not one band amplified by the PCR experiment, the software can be used to calculate the relative percentage of each band in the total band. PCR quantification is to quantify the relative density of selected bands and calculate the percentage of the total. During density scanning, a longitudinal scanning curve graph is generated for the selected area and integrated.
